For the first time in the school's history, the top five students from Saddle Rock’s Math Olympiad team participated in the Grace Quinlan Memorial Math Tournament at Adelphi University. Students, Myles Zhong (4th grade), Claire Nikodem (5th grade), Vera Sun (5th grade), Dennis Zechen Liu (5th grade), and Brandon Lau (5th grade), competed both individually and as a team against 63 other five-person teams from schools across Nassau County, consisting of students in grades 4-6. They were challenged to answer 10 difficult Math Olympiad questions within a 30 minute time limit and then worked collaboratively as a team to solve an additional 10 questions.

The team placed 2nd overall in the group competition by working together to correctly answer all 10 team questions presented.

Additionally, Myles answered all 10 individual questions correctly, placing him in a six-way tie out of the 320 participating students. To break the tie, the students were brought to the front of the room and simultaneously presented with an additional question. The students who answered correctly the fastest earned the top placements. Myles answered the tiebreaker question correctly just a second or two behind another student, earning him 2nd place in the individual competition. Brandon earned an honorable mention by correctly answering 9 out of the 10 individual questions presented.
