LIBRARY
At Saddle Rock, we consider the library to be the heart of the school. A major goal of the library program is to foster a love of reading and to teach children to become lifelong learners. The study of literature develops critical thinking skills, nurtures children's reflective abilities, and enables them to connect literary themes to their own lives.
The library program focuses on teaching students library skills, different genres of literature (e.g. historical fiction, non-fiction, poetry, realistic fiction, etc.), research strategies for multiple forms of media, and integrated technology skills, including digital citizenship and media literacy. Instruction in the library is closely correlated to classroom units of study and reflects the learning standards for specific content areas.
Welcome to Library!
The mission of the school library program is to help students to become skillful researchers, critical thinkers, and enthusiastic readers!
